Artist of the “Fair Play” Jersey

Paco León (Santiago, 1972)

Born in Santiago, in April 1972. At 19, he moved to the United States and studied the Science of Creative Intelligence at the Maharishi International University, in Iowa. León, a self taught painter, returned to Chile to study Art at the ARCIS University, but he eventually withdrew and devoted himself to painting full time. “For me, art is linked to humans through a series of endless threads. These threads can be interpated as the union or parallels, if you will, between our cognitive thought and our spiritual beliefs.”

Paco León painted “Desierto” specifically for the Ride of Chile 2011, which was selected to be reproduced on the “Fair Play” Jersey.

Artist of the “Under 23” group Jersey

Hernán Gana De Landa (Santiago, 1969)

A student of Arquitechture between the years of 1987 and 1995 at the Central University, as well as Finis Terrae University of Santiago. In 1995, he enrolled at the Parson School of Design, electing courses in painting and etching. Staying in New Yorks he also attended the School of Visual Arts. Gana, A self-taught artist, who likes to create visual images utilizing paint and every-day objects. His architectural experience is evident in the structures of his landscape environments.

Hernán Gana painted “Hielos” for the Ride of Chile 2011, which was printed on the Under 23 Jersey.

Author of the “Leader” Jersey

Alejandro Balbontín Pozo (Santiago, 1964)

Also a student of architecture at the prestigious, University of Chile. However, he quickly turned to painting, taking courses in Drawing and Color while in: Chile, España, Argelia and Ecuador. His style has Ben described as “exagerated realism,” because his work emphazise a minimal situations that remain in the retina becuase of the color and the power of the image.

Aljandro Balbontín Pozo painted “Bosques” for the Ride of Chile 2011, and is displayed on the “Leader” Jersey.

Artist of the “Consistency” Jersey

Oscar Barra (Santiago, 1964)

Durring the late 80’s, he studied Art at the University of Concepción. In 1991, he cofound the Grisalla Group with five other artists. His work is figurative and surreal with abstract references within his art. Within the frame, time stops, like a Polaroid photo, witnessed within each creation an endless sequences of events.

Oscar Barra painted “Mar” for the Ride of Chile 2011, which is depicted on the “Consistency” Jersey.

Artist of the “Sprinter” Jersey

Raimundo Edwards Alonso (Santiago, 1979)

An art graduate with a minor in painting from the Finis Terrae University. He’s currently pursuing a Master of Visual Arts at the University of Chile. Trained in painting, Raimundo Edwards artistic production has Ben characterized by his realizations, both in viedo as well as photography, of vivid landscapes renderings and every day situations, urban objects, that are later translated into the pictorial codes in unconventional materials (zinc, plywood, metal, etc.). Edwards iconographic referances are the spaces that borders between of artificial and organic. Specifically, road landscape where this situation can occur. His work satirizes what is meant by both natural and artificial landscape.
